Acura TSX Structure

Safety is assembled into the every part of the TSX. Body structure of TSX combines front and rear crumble zones which had gained an NHTSA 5-Star rating for full frontal impacts and an IIHS Good- highest rating for offset frontal impacts. Also it has 5 star front or 4-star rear rating for side impacts.

All doors feature side impact beams that have energy absorbing pads and components through the cabin. These are designed so to absorb impact energy. reinforced steel stiffers are placed inside the doors at beltline to strengthen the TSX cabin and improve safety. The reinforce steel stiffers privides continuous horizontal connection between pillars.

Tabular steel door beams with high tensile strength provide protection against side impacts. At the time of collosion the front and rear crumble zones were designed to change their shape in a controlled manner to dissipate imact energy. Special side impact door beams do the similar thing.

The whole body of Acura TSX is constructed using advanced materials to reduce total mass because weight is the enemy of high performance. For front seat frames and engine valve covers strong and lightweighted magnesium material is used. And in the crucial areas high tensile steel is used to improve strength and minimize the weight.
