A 5-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sport Shift is the primary transmission for the TL model line of Acura. It has its own devices at left and it provides smooth, quick and spontaneous gear changes.

Because of the Grade Logic and Shift Hold Control it operates effectively and smoothly on the fast curves and steep, varied inclines. The steering wheel mounted paddle shifter and a tap of the floor shifters are placed on the Type-S. By making quick manual shifts with these shifters you can make full command over the transmission.

The Type-S is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission shifting in the sport sedan. So you have two options to choose from either use 5-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual transmission.
