A world-class driver's SUV naturally requires a powerful, sophisticated engine. The MDX delivers with a 3.7-liter VTEC V-6, dishing up 300 horsepower and 275 lbs.-ft of torque. Acura's largest engine is also the most powerful 6 cylinder SUV in its class, rivaling many V-8 engines.

The MDX not only benefits from significant weight reduction measures, it gained additional power from a high-flow exhaust system, increased displacement, as well as enhancements to the induction system.

To widen the power band, improve efficiency, and achieve CARB-certified LEV-2 ULEV emissions, the engine features VTEC, a dual stage intake manifold and a Drive-by-Wire Throttle system. EPA estimated mileage is 17/22 mpg which combined with a 21-gallon fuel capacity, gives the MDX the potential for attaining a 400-mile or more cruising range.
