In 1980 when Integra was first time introduced, some of the best known and popular hot hatch also introduced which include Volkswagen Golf GTI. It is the main competitor for Acura Integra at that time.
Up to the three generation of Acura Integra the sedan model is available for Integra but later it was terminated and the model is converted in to its fourth generation DC5 platform. And nowadays this model is known as Acura RSX and sold in North America. Most of the Integra lovers refer Acura TSX as the second coming of Integra GS-R sedan.
From 2002 to 2006 the fourth generation of Integra was produced. It was named as Acura RSX as per the Acura's new naming scheme to lineup with its previous models (for example NSX, MDX, TSX, RDX, etc). This new model had the k-series new engine. The nameplate of RSX is unique to Acura which shows Fourth generation Integra was still known as Integra outside Canada and United States of America. After that Integra sedan was replaced by Acura TSX.
The final year marked for Acura Integra/RSX is 2006. After May 2006 Acura RSX was discontinued by Honda. Rumors were spread that Honda desires to move more up market for Acura brands. The sedan model of Acura Integra i.e. Acura RSX was replaced by the coupe version of Acura TSX. The TSX model is based on Japanese Honda Accord.
Acura Integra was awarded as Ten Best on Car and Driver magazine's annual for six times in 1987, 1988, and 1994 through 1997. In 1994 and 1995 the Integra GS-R model was most popular and called out specifically. It made a return on the Ten Best as the Acura RSX, for 2002 and 2003.
